Luz, Clarão, Fulgor — Augúrios para um Enquadramento Não Hierárquico e Venturoso

A film-in-metamorphosis by Sílvia das Fadas with sound and score by Robert Blatt, sparked by the anarchist António Gonçalves Correia and his communal experiments. Shapeshifting itself in different iterations, it anticipates a fulgurous de-hierarchization of the act of seeing, while offering a pedagogy of land and conviviality in the bioregion of Alentejo.
A (expanded) film that lights up the grid of the anarchist António Gonçalves Correia and his communal experiences - first, the Comuna da Luz in Vale de Santiago/Odemira (1917-18), and then the Comuna Clarão, in Albarraque/Sintra (1926). As it metamorphoses into different iterations, it anticipates the glow of a desirability of the gaze and a pedagogy of land and conviviality in the Alentejo bio-region. We search for auguries while stubbornly observing the ruins of a commune. For example: "climate favourable to wanderers." We walk through time, erratically recording images and sounds through the kaleidoscopic spatiality of the Alentejo, a region named after a river. As walking offers unexpected encounters and co-presences, missives are sent to and from the shores. For example: "growing organs for the alternative." Our senses are partial, precarious and fragmentary, but not our orientation: there is a daily struggle for the fulgurous, and we want to be part of it. Against a firmament of dispossession of land, bodies and social bonds, we are preparing ourselves. The fulgurous is mobile, the prefigured community is dispersed and diverse. Through dissent and associations of affinity, autonomy and re-enchantment, cinema itself has the power to flourish free of hierarchical impositions.
